What are the attractions that you can visit with your Discover Seoul Pass? Here are a few sites that you can include in your itinerary!

1. Gyeongbokgung or Gyeongbok Palace

Gyeongbokgung is the main palace of the Joseon Dynasty. It’s located at the heart of Seoul and has the beautiful Bugaksan (mountain) as its background. With your mobile Discover Seoul Pass, you can enter this important attraction where the king presided over his subjects and maintained legislative affairs.

2. Changdeokgung or Changdeok Palace

Changdeokgung was built in 1405 during the reign of King Taejong. It was the second royal villa after Gyeongbokgung, but it was destroyed during the Japanese invasion in 1592-1598. The site was restored 12 years after under the reign of Prince Gwanghae. (In 1997, Changdeokgung was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which reinforces the “outstanding universal value” that the attraction has.)

3. Changgyeonggung or Changgyeong Palace

Changgyeonggung is another royal palace that you can visit with your mobile Discover Seoul Pass. This historical attraction has its own Western-style conservatory and greenhouse that was built in 1909. If you do not have the time to visit Changgyeonggung while your Discover Seoul Pass is still active, you can still enter it for free anytime provided that you wear a hanbok.

4. Deoksugung or Deoksu Palace

Originally a private residence of a royalty, Deoksugung has become another historical palace in Korea that is considered unique for its seal engravings and Western-style garden. The Changing of the Royal Guards show here can be viewed in front of Daehanmun and is considered a very popular event for many visitors.

5. Jongmyo (Royal Shrine)

Majestic and solemn. This is how you can describe Jongmyo or the Royal Shrine, which is a historical attraction in Korea that you can visit with the mobile Discover Seoul Pass. Jongmyo is where the spirit tablets of previous kings and queens are placed traditionally, so the new successors used to come to this place to pay tribute to the deceased.

6. Seodaemun Prison History Museum

Seodaemun Prison was built in 1908 to detain and torture Koreans who resisted Japanese rule (or Korean Independence Fighters). Today, the prison stands as an important symbol of Korea’s democracy.

7. N Seoul Tower Observatory

One of the must-see attractions in Seoul is the iconic N Seoul Tower. Perched on Namsan, this structure beams magnificently at night and provides a sweeping view of the city skyline through its observatory — a real treat to mobile Discover Seoul Pass users. Many people not only add N Seoul Tower into their itinerary for the view, but also for the famous love locks, cable car, and the N Grill Restaurant. 8. Figure Museum W

The Figure Museum W in Seoul provides a fun experience to children of all ages with its rare displays of anime, manga, and movie characters. Here, Discover Seoul Pass holders will get to enjoy the sights of Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Mazinger Z, Gundam, and Robot Taekwon V.

Furthermore, Discover Seoul Pass has posted this tip on their Facebook page: The Figure Museum W is located at a town considered as the Beverly Hills of Korea, so browsing around the area after your tour will definitely be a unique experience for you. And if you are a K-pop fan, JYP Center is located 15 minutes away from the museum.

9. Trickeye Museum

Trickeye Museum is an interactive 3D museum in Hongdae, a hipster neighborhood in Seoul. This attraction presents artworks that were created using a traditional art technique called Trompe-l’oeil (literally translated as “trick of the eye”), which makes 2D paintings appear 3D. Discover Seoul Pass holders will definitely have a great time posing for the ‘gram in this partner attraction.

10. Alive Museum & Dynamic Maze

Alive Museum is an attraction that’s globally recognized for their optical illusion exhibits. The Insadong branch in Korea opened in 2014 and offers interactive works of art that will you and your friends will enjoy. On the other hand, the museum’s Dynamic Maze adventure is a unique, cross-dimensional installation where participants must work together to overcome obstacles and challenges.

11. Hanboknam

What’s a trip to Korea without getting to wear the country’s traditional costume? At Hanboknam Gyeongbokgung Branch, holders of the Discover Seoul Pass will get free rental of their favorite hanbok for 90 minutes! With a hanbok on, you can visit Gyeongbokgung (again!) for free and have an enjoyable photo-taking session.

  • More info:
    • Last admission to Hanboknam is one (1) hour before closing. They are open year-round.
    • Free hanbok rental with Discover Seoul Pass is only available at the Gyeongbokgung Palace branch.
    • Refund is not available after you’ve put on the hanbok.
    • If you want to extend the duration of your hanbok rental, you’ll have to pay Hanboknam the hourly rate of ₩5,000 (around $4.4) for a traditional hanbok or ₩10,000 (around $8.8) for a themed hanbok.

If you’re not getting the Discover Seoul Pass but still want to rent a hanbok from Hanboknam, you can purchase a rental voucher here. It costs around $7.

12. COEX Aquarium

COEX Aquarium is a world-class themed attraction where education meets entertainment. Here, Mobile Discover Seoul Pass holders will be able to see a wide variety of sea creatures and learn more about them. Families are encouraged to take a trip down to the magical underwater world for an unforgettable experience in Korea!

16. Running Man Thematic Experience Center Ep.1: Find the Treasure

Experience the popular entertainment Korean show Running Man by taking part in the fun activities of Ep. 1: Find the Treasure! As the 8th member of Running Man, mobile Discover Seoul Pass holders will be given orders and carry out missions throughout the activity — just like in the show!

17. Sealala Water Park & Korean Spa (Jjimjilbang)

Experience the Korean jjimjilbang culture at Sealala! Here you and your friends can enjoy the traditional and wholesome way of rest and recreation in a modern environment. Mobile Discover Seoul Pass holders can enjoy various jjimjilbang and spa facilities, such as a red clay sauna, a charcoal herbal medicine room, far-infrared radiation room, an ice room, etc. (I’d recommend visiting this site when you’re done with all your tours! It’s a great way to regain your energy.)

  • More info:
    • Only the Korean spa/sauna facilities are free with the Discover Seoul Pass. If you plan to try the Waterpark, you must pay the admission fee separately.
    • Jjimjilbang clothing rental is free with for mobile Discover Seoul Pass holders!
    • If you stay for over 12 hours at Sealala, you will need to pay ₩1,000 for every extra hour (that’s around ₱45 or $0.9)
    • Every year in September or October, the spa will be closed for 2-3 weeks for scheduled maintenance of facilities (visitors will be notified about the schedule in advance).

18. Seoul Bike

Want to bike your way around Seoul? You got it! Seoul Bike is a convenient bicycle-sharing system that can be used by mobile Discover Seoul Pass users. Find more details here.

  • Hours of Operation (taken from Discover Seoul Pass): Available 24/7
  • More info:
    • Regardless of the pass duration, the bike can only be used for 24 hours from the time of rental.
    • During the 24 hours, Discover Seoul Pass holders can return the bike and rent another one.
    • Discover Seoul Pass holders can use the voucher only one time, regardless of the pass expiration date.

19. Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art

The Leeum Samsung Museum of Art consists of two museums that mobile Discover Seoul Pass holders can enjoy: Museum 1, which grandly exhibits Korean antiquities; and Museum 2, which has interactive displays of both Korean and international contemporary art.

Namsangol Hanok Village is a traditional culture and arts village that offers five restored traditional Korean houses, pavilion, traditional garden, performance arts stage, and the Seoul Millennium Time Capsule Plaza. Enjoy the atmosphere and experience the value of preserving traditions and culture.
