Things to Know Before You Visit N Seoul Tower


Standing on top of Namsan (also referred to as Nam Mountain or 南山), N Seoul Tower is an attraction that’s difficult to miss. It’s an iconic fixture in Seoul, one that looks spectacular from afar and up close. Built in 1969, it primarily serves as a radio transmission tower for broadcast companies like KBS, MBC, and SBS TV. The structure beams magnificently at night and enables 48% of the national population to tune in to their favorite programs, as noted on its official website here.

The N Seoul Tower area was opened to the public in 1980 and has since become a popular go-to spot for locals and foreigners visiting Korea. It not only offers a 360° view of the megalopolis from its observatory, it also houses commercial establishments and amenities that’s enjoyed by many. If you’re thinking about visiting N Seoul Tower, here are some things that you may want to take note of:

1. N Seoul Tower location

2. Opening hours

N Seoul Tower is open year-round, which makes it one of the attractions in South Korea that you can visit on a public holiday. The N Seoul Tower Observatory is open at these hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 10am-11pm
  • Saturday: 10am-12am
  • Sunday: 10am-11pm

Final admission is 30 minutes before the closing time.

COVID-19 Update: Is N Seoul Tower open?

As of publish time, N Seoul Tower remains open for public visit. We did not find any published schedule adjustments on their official website.

However, Discover Seoul Pass holders were advised that operating hours of the Observatory was changed to 12pm-10pm temporarily (subject to change without notice).

4. How to Get to Namsan Tower

N Seoul Tower is located in the central part of the capital, so you won’t have to travel far if you’re already settled in. Some ways to get there:

a. N Seoul Tower via Cable Car


To get to Namsan via the scenic cable car, proceed to Namsan Cable Car Center. You can reach this place via subway by doing the following:

  • Get off at Myeongdong Station and take Exit 3.
  • Find the alley that leads up to Pacific Hotel and walk towards it.
  • Stay on the right side (the road that’s lined with 7-Eleven and GS25) and walk straight ahead. (It will be an uphill walk, which should take around 8-15 minutes depending on your pace.)
  • You’ll find the Cable Car Center at the top of the hill.

Once you’ve reached Namsan Cable Car Center, you can purchase your ticket in the booth. Here are the prices:

  • Adult Tickets for Namsan Cable Car
    • Roundtrip: ₩9,500 (around $8.4)
    • One-way: ₩7,000 (around $6.2)
  • Child Tickets for Namsan Cable Car
    • Roundtrip:  ₩6,500 (around $5.7)
    • One-way: ₩4,000 (around $3.5)

The cable car will take you to Namsan, and you’ll have to walk a little more to reach the tower.

Namsan Cable Car Center is available from 10am-11pm daily. They operate year-round, except if there are weather disturbances that affect operations.

b. N Seoul Tower via Bus

To go to N Seoul Tower via bus, you can ride the Namsan Shuttle 02, 03, or 05.

  • There’s a bus stop near Chungmuro Station, Exit 2 and Dongguk Univ. Station, Exit 6.
  • Operating hours: 7am-11:30pm (interval of 15 minutes)
Shuttle Bus 03 to N Seoul Tower
  • There’s a stop near Seoul Station, Exit 9, Itaewon Station, Exit 4, and Hangangjin Station, Exit 2.
  • Operating hours: 7am-11:30pm (interval of 15 minutes)
Shuttle Bus 05 to N Seoul Tower
  • There’s a bus stop near Myeongdong Station, Exit 3
  • Operating hours: 7am-11:30pm (interval of 15 minutes)

5. N Seoul Tower Floor Guide

Tower 7/F: N.Grill French Restaurant

N.Grill is a revolving French restaurant at the topmost floor of N Seoul Tower. It’s an upscale offering of Michelin-starred chef Duncan Robertson and is known for its European dishes with Korean influences.

The price range for N. Grill lunch menu items is ₩50,000-90,000 (around $44-80), while dinner menu items sell for around ₩95,000-133,000 (around $84-117). If you’re visiting, try their Korean striploin, lobster thermidor, lamb cutlets, and seabass. Reservations at N.Grill restaurant is highly encouraged.

Tower 4/F & 5/F: Observatory, Gift Shop, N Photo Studio, Sky Restroom, etc.

When you’re on the 5/F of the N Seoul Tower, walk around the observation deck to see the city in full view. You will also spot a huge gift shop inside that sells shirts, souvenir items, phone cases, and more.

When nature calls, go to the Sky Restroom. There you’ll probably have the best peeing experience of your life!

Tower 2/F & 3F: Restaurants & Roof Terrace

On these floors, you’ll find more restaurants in N Seoul Tower, such as Hancook (Korean cuisine) and The Place Dining (Italian).

5th Floor & Tower 1/F: Ticket Booth, N. Burger, Hello Kitty Island

On the first two floors of N Seoul Tower, you will find the onsite ticket booth, N Burger Restaurant, Twosome Coffee, Olive Young, and some souvenir stores.

6. Exploring Namsan Park

Aside from N Seoul Tower, locals like to come to Namsan for its nature. It makes for a great place to relax, reflect, and exercise. Many foreigners also visit the mountain area for the following amenities:

Love Locks


Here’s an area that you don’t want to miss! At Namsan park, you’ll find thousands of love locks, which signify people’s hopes for a relationship that’ll stand the test of time.

If you’re coming to N Seoul Tower with your special someone, you can purchase a lock of love for ₩5,000 (around $4.4) or bring your own (make sure it;s heavy-duty!). If you’re coming to the area alone, well, you can always snap away and enjoy the panoramic view of the city.

Couple-friendly Spaces

N Seoul Tower isn’t called ‘The Romantic Island in the City’ for nothing. Visiting couples will surely feel lovey-dovey at Namsan given the many romantic spots and colorful corners. (If you’re a solo traveler, consider these spaces to be a great addition to your Insta feed!)



The pagoda found at the foot of N Seoul Tower is perhaps the second most photographed landmark in Namsan. Make sure to take a photo or two at night when it’s fully lit up!

At Namsan park, there are several snack carts and restaurants that sell amazing meals and snacks. However, the real deal here is the experience since not many food establishments can provide such a dramatic view of Seoul city skyline.
