Mega Luge in Ganghwa Seaside Resort
One of the attractions in Korea that you can visit anytime of year is Ganghwa Seaside Resort. They house one of the country’s best luge tracks, which locals and foreign residents like to check out, especially in spring, summer, and fall.

A luge, for those who are unaware, is a half go-kart and half-sled ride that you take from the top of a mountain. The concept is to let gravity pull you down the winding track to the base — the perfect activity for thrill-seekers and kids! (If you’re unsure if the luge is safe for children, then click here to read reviews from WAUG users who took the ride with their family.)
Below we’ll look into some of things that you can expect when you ride the gondola and luge in Ganghwa, but you may want to watch the following clip first so you can imagine what it’s like to take this popular ride!
Ganghwa Seaside Resort Rides: Gondola & Luge
Before you and your group luge your way down in Ganghwa, you will first have to reach the top of the mountain by taking a gondola ride.
1. Gondola
The gondola system in Ganghwa Seaside Resort is the only one in the world that can transport 2,400 passengers and 1,200 luge sleds per hour. It’s a product of the Porsche Design Studio — yes, it’s a premium gondola! — and can fit up to 8 people.

As you and your group ascend the mountain with your luge sleds, you’ll have a nice panoramic view of the sea and the stunning mountain area.

If you time your visit just before sundown, then you can have a nice sunset view of the surrounds from the gondola. Definitely a great way to impress your date and make memories with your kiddos!
2. Mega Luge

Once you reach the top of the mountain, you’ll then take your luge and have a quick safety session with the Ganghwa Seaside Resort staff. You’ll be handed your helmet and be taught how to operate the luge.

There are two mega luge tracks in Ganghwa: a general track and an advanced track. As you can tell, the former is more suitable for kids, while the latter features more slopes and sharp turns. However, the two tracks are both fun, so make sure to experience both if you can!

Since the mega luge is a powerless or motorless ride, expect a fast and furious adventure as you make your way down to the base!
