Regardless if it’s summer or winter, you can enjoy surfing in Yangyang at a discount when you book this activity! (New WAUG users get extra ₩3,000 or $3 off first booking 🎉)
Yangyang is home to many stunning beaches, but it is Jukdo Beach that makes it one of the best surfing spots in Korea. Hailed by The Korea Herald as a “mecca for surfers”, Jukdo is a 2-km beach that features cool waters that aren’t too deep, which makes it suitable for casual and beginner surfers. The big waves actually come during winter, so if you’ve been surfing for a while and don’t mind the cold, you should definitely come! (Yes, winter surfing in Korea is possible and actually quite exciting.) Visiting Yangyang during the hot months of summer is also not half-bad — I mean, it’s the peak season! — though expect the waves to be milder.
A few more things that I love about Jukdo Beach in Yangyang is that it has a surf village filled with cozy dining spots and bars. The community here is also warm and friendly, so even if you’re not into surfing at all, you can just come down and meet new people.
